Project Safe
Project safe is a program sponsored by the Treatment Assessment Screening Center (TASC) for drug testing students/adolescents. Students and young adults who use drugs often feel confident about not getting caught.
"How is anybody going to know I smoke weed, it's not like they're gonna drug test me."
Well, now for a mere $20 parents, coaches, and school administrators can change that attitude. TASC has designed a custom drug-screening test for adolescents. This screening includes:
- Amphetamines (Crystal Meth, Speed, Crank)
- Cocaine (Blow, Crack)
- Opiates (Heroine, Codeine, Morphine, Methadone, Cheese)
- Phencyclidine (PCP, Angle Dust)
- THC (Marijuana, weed)
- LSD (Acid)
- MDMA ("E" or Ecstasy)
Parents, teachers, coaches, principals, and doctors can visit any TASC office and say, "I'm here to have Junior test for Project Safe." All test will be visually monitored to eliminate tampering. Minors must have ID and be accompanied by a parental/guardian. Students over the age of 18 must bring a student ID.
The student tested will sign a release designating who is to be notified of the test results. The test results are returned to the consenting adult. If drug abuse is detected, TASC will evaluate and/or recommend counseling for drug abuse or behavioral health. Law Enforcement is not contacted. Please contact TASC at (602) 254-7328 Ext. 140 or visit its web site at www.tasc-arizona.org.
